I am a woman, mother and grandmother and love being all three! I have many interests as you will find out if you read all my profile! I would say I am just a normal woman, but I have no idea what normal is. We are all so different but very unique in our own way anyway aren't we? We only have one life this isn’t a dress rehearsal so make the most of it and try and achieve what it is you want in life I treat people they way I wish to be treated and I think most people would agree they would like the same!

Health

Well so far so good with the new medicine I don’t seem to be having any side affects with it thank goodness

I don’t read the little pamphlet you get with your medicine I see so many people that do and about a few hours after they start the medicine they imagine they have some of the side affects

I always ask the doctor if there any chance they could affect my other medication etc before starting anything

As for my herbal tablets that I take, I do the same there always ask the doctor if the could react differently with my medication

I don’t like taking so much medication but it’s a case of I have to, they consist of a beta blocker, (keeps the old ticker at good rate) thyroxin, (no thyroid) nexium, (for ulcer) and my antidepressants and a few others

My parathyroid was damaged when they removed my thyroid so have to take medicine for that also

Hey I have lots of empty rooms in my body lol :-)

Hope everyone is having a good weekend :-)

that is quite a big list of medication but I'm glad you're feeling ok. Your blog's looking great, by the way.

interesting about your parathyroid; I've had some trouble as well (thyroid cancer, all thyr. removed)...do you get the muscle tetany/cramping?

glad it's 'so far, so good' :)

Hi his girl friday

do you take calcium that usually helps My body doesn't make calcium at all now You should have your calcium checked when you have your thyroid done!

Cramping is bad and quinine is good for that, but quinine has been restricted here because of new side affects that have came to light

It is a lot TopChamp and the worst of it thats not all of them But the main thing is they keep me going
All except the antidepressant are for life and I have been on them now for almost 20 years

thanks for your comment about my blog much appreciate it Jan :-)

Oh his girl friday

Hi SW,

I do have my calcium checked periodically, but I still have the tetany even when it's within the normal levels(tho when it's on the low side of the norm), Usually in the hands, but have had it in the foot arches, and legs depending on the level of exertion. (I've had it in the chest, but only a few times...a bit scary) I take the Calcium with the Mag, and try to throw in some potassium as well...ugh, I hate pills! :) Cold tile?, well, will have to try that one!! :)))

Hi His Girl Friday

Well I take the cramp in my feet legs and hands But I don't take my calcium any more had enough with tablets too many grrrr
I do make sure I drink milk and eat some cheese (yuck) now and then! and my levels haven't been too bad

May I ask how long its been since your surgery?

Jan :-)

First surgery in '98; they left half the thyroid thinking the cyst was benign only to find out later it was not...meanwhile, my vocal cord was paralyzed from the surgery. 2nd surgery was postponed til '99 because I was petrified they would nick the other vocal cord and I would be either mute or have a tracheostomy. Cancer scare won out, I had the surgery, and I woke up speaking meaning the other cord was okay, thank God!!

ps we have here what's called calcium chews...like a caramel candy...makes it handy for getting the right amount as I really don't drink milk, or eat cheese all that much. :p

Oh haven't seen them type of candies

I had all mine removed (thyroid) out in 1994 I had goiter, graves disease, and thyrotoxicosis and I had a tumor on my voice box which I had removed a month before the thyroid The goiter looked like I had two plums stuck in my neck grrr

I get so lethargic at times and tire so easily This made it difficult for my doctor to diagnose
my sleep apnia which makes me feel the same way crazy it all is

And I am afraid at present I am having so much trouble staying awake I don't know if it could be the new antidepressants Ive started
Will have to go and see the doctor this week sometime Jan :-)
